Alessandra Ritter, D.D.S., M.S.
Dr. Alessandra Ritter is an experienced dentist with many years of training and practice in the specialized field of Endodontics. Dr. Ritter’s initial dental training was completed in Brazil, where she received a dental degree (C.D.) and a Certificate in Endodontics from the Federal University of Santa Catarina in Florianópolis. After practicing dentistry for 10 years, Dr. Ritter moved to North Carolina with her husband and their two children in 1997. In Chapel Hill, she completed many years of additional training, and received a D.D.S. degree, a M.S. in Endodontics, and a Certificate in Endodontics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). While in training at UNC, Dr. Ritter won a prestigious First Place Graduate Student Poster Research Presentation at the annual session of the American Association of Endodontists for her research on “Pulp Revascularization of Immature Teeth following Dental Trauma.”
Before opening her private practice in Chapel Hill, Dr. Ritter taught at UNC as a Visiting Professor and as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Endodontics, and practiced Endodontics at the UNC Dental Faculty Practice. Dr. Ritter is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, The North Carolina Dental Society, Tar Heel Endodontics, and the American Association of Endodontists. She is also a member of the Carolina Alumni Association.
Dr. Ritter has two children, João “John” Victor and Juliana, and lives in Chapel Hill, NC.
Dr. Lisiane Ferreira Susin, D.D.S.
Dr. Lisiane Ferreira Susin was born and raised in southern Brazil. She received her DDS from the Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul - Brazil in 1997. Dr. Susin completed a fellowship in pediatric endodontics at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil in 1998, and an endodontic specialty program at the Lutheran University, Brazil in 2000. She completed her second residency training in endodontics at Medical College of Georgia in 2011. She taught at Temple University, Philadelphia from 2004 to 2005 and at the Dental College of Georgia from 2011 to 2018 where she was the Predoctoral Program Director for Endodontics. When she moved to North Carolina, she served as Associate Professor of Endodontics and predoctoral Director for Endodontics at Adams School of Endodontics - UNS from 2018 to 2023. During her entire academic career as full time faculty, she was highly involved in the graduate endodontic program, as well practicing endodontics in the faculty practice for two full days of the week.
She directed the preclinical and clinical courses in endodontics and the preparatory laboratory for the student's licensure exam (CITA). She served in several committees at ASOD, including the Curriculum Committee; Fee, Instruments, Labs, and Materials Committee; Foundations of Practice Committee; Professionalism Committee; DDS2, DDS3 and DDS4 Teaching Committee; and Technology Innovation Committee. She has lectured nationally and internationally and has published several articles on new techniques and technologies applied to endodontics. She constantly updated the preclinical and clinical endodontic courses so that students have learn and practice the state of the art in endodontics. Her research interest are clinical outcomes of endodontic treatment, new technologies for mechanical and chemical instrumentation, and microsurgery in endodontics. She has published at Scientific Reports, Dental Materials, Journal of Endodontics, International Endodontics Journal, Journal of Dentistry, and Journal Prosthodontics Dental. She is a member of the American Dental Association, American Dental Education Association, American Association of Endodontics, TarHeael Endodontic Association.
She is current appointed as Adjunct Professor in Endodontics at Adams School of Dentistry - NC, Chapel Hill, where she continues to teach endodontics to predoctoral and graduate students once a week. She lives in Cary with her husband Cristiano and her kids Sophie and Lucas. Her Hobbies are: Pilates, cooking, traveling, and spending time with the kids as much as possible.
